Description
You can include a Softgate step in your Socialshaker campaign. This step enables you to generate traffic on your social networks and recruit new fans thanks to the ‘like’ or ‘follow’ button provided for this purpose. The Softgate step is not compulsory, but it encourages your participant to follow your page if they feel it is relevant to do so in view of the arguments you put forward.
⚠️ Please note: For the Facebook ‘Like’ button to appear and be functional on your campaign via Socialshaker, your users must have given their explicit consent to Facebook cookies. If cookies have not been accepted beforehand, the ‘Like’ button will simply not appear.
What you need to know
It is only possible to collect new followers on one social platform at a time: Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Pinterest and Google +.
If your Facebook page has specific restrictions (for example, an age limit for posting or if your page features an alcoholic beverage), Facebook may not allow that page to use this functionality. The Facebook ‘Like’ button will not be present on your Softgate and this feature should therefore not be activated.
Where can I find the Softgate?
From the back office of your campaign, access the Softgate stage by clicking on the ‘+’ to the right of the breadcrumb trail, as shown in the image below.
When the game is launched, the Softgate takes place just after you click on ‘Participate’. This location is fixed and cannot be changed. Example: In a Quiz, the SoftGate appears just after you decide to take part in the game, and just before you access the entry form.
Install your social network on the Softgate
Choose the type of Gate :
SoftGate: functionality enabling you to highlight a page
PostGate: feature allowing you to highlight a post.
Choose your social network from the list provided:
Then simply copy and paste the URL of your page into the ‘Softgate URL’ field. Here's how it looks for players with a Facebook page, for example:
⚠️ Warning: Facebook regulations prohibit this feature as a condition of participation. The platform therefore does not offer this option. Similarly, it is not permitted to organise a draw among people who have liked a Facebook post.
Specificity of Softgate Youtube
To make the Youtube Softgate work, you need to insert not the url but the id of your channel. Here's a tutorial on how to get this id. Please note that you should not enter the url of the channel followed by the id in the Socialshaker settings, but only the id.
Statistics
In the Actions > Exports and tracking section of your campaign, you'll find the number of clicks on the Sofgate stage (a click can be a like or a dislike). The export does not show the participants who clicked on the feature.
