In this article we explain how to create a game in several languages or organise the same campaign in several countries.
Create a multilingual campaign
Creating a multilingual campaign means you only need to configure one campaign for all the countries in which your game will be available. When your campaign is configured as multilingual, the browser language will determine which version of the game is displayed to the user.
For example, if your browser is in French, and the French language is configured, the French version will be displayed.
Configuration
The first thing you need to do is activate the languages you want for your campaign. To do this, go to the ‘Configuration ’ tab :
Then scroll down to the "Language ’ section and choose the languages you want to offer users.
There are 8 languages available. If you still want to broadcast in another language, we can add it.
The ‘Default language’ section allows you to choose a language that will be displayed by default if the user has no language set up in their browser or if their browser is set up with another language that is not offered.
✍️ If your browser is in Spanish, but no Spanish language is configured in the campaign, then the default language version will be displayed.
E.g.: My browser is in French and my default language is English: the campaign will be displayed in French.
However, you can activate the toggle to force the default language.
E.g.: I have my browser in FR, my default language is EN and I force the language to the default language (i.e. EN): the campaign is displayed in EN.
Save the configuration settings and then go to the ‘Home’ section to start making the language settings. You'll be able to switch easily between languages on the sidebar:
How do I change languages when broadcasting?
Once all the languages have been added to your campaign, your participants will now be able to choose the one they want by clicking on the selection icon on the game's home page.
This icon varies according to the delivery method used:
on Desktop, the selection is made by clicking on the planet icon in the top right-hand corner:
By default, Socialshaker game templates include a translation of each basic text.
Create a campaign by country
An interesting alternative to creating a multilingual campaign is to opt for a separate campaign per country. This strategy offers a number of significant advantages that can maximise the impact of your campaign and improve the user experience.
There are a number of advantages to this option:
Having your own URLs per country:By creating a specific campaign for each country, you can set up dedicated URLs and personalise your communications.
Translate endowment names by country:By developing a campaign by country, you can translate and adapt endowment names. This will be particularly useful for your instant-win campaigns.
Having a single set of rules for each language:Another advantage of this approach is the ability to draw up separate game rules for each country, taking account of local legal requirements. Rather than relying on a general translation, you can draw up rules tailored to each jurisdiction, which reduces legal risks and ensures that participants fully understand the terms and conditions of the game.
